Maureen Creel, Hero by erosarts Maureen Creel, Hero by erosarts
Maureen Creel might not be a “super” hero, but neither is she merely speculative. Her tales of daring have already made her a star on the campus of Gnosis College, where she hi-jacked the technology of a resident professor in order to gain the power of invisibility! Gnosis College is an environment rich in philosophy, mad science and (most importantly), porn, so you know Maureen’s got intelligence, resourcefulness and sexiness to spare.

“Tales of Gnosis College, Volume Four: Invisible Girl, Heroine,” from Dr. Faustus and Erosarts. Two guys who know beauty comes in all shapes and sizes. :iconfaustusems::iconerosarts:

Specifically put together for :iconkxhara:'s "Fat" Female Superhero contest. It might be denied, but hey! It's a new picture of Maureen, and a sneak peek at the residents of the State Home For Wayward Girls from "Invisible Girl, Heroine."

To my understanding, the contest is suppose to be an action against the overdone objectification of superheroines. I don't think... a porn oriented heroine would be exactly appropriate for the contest... even if the girls does come in various sizes.

But ahh... I guess... to each his own?

An entirely valid point. Points, in fact; both your concern, and the part about "to each his own."

My defense would be this: "Tales of Gnosis College" is (I think) a pretty different take on a comic with porn in it. It's mostly about things that just happen to eventually wind up involving a lot of erotic mad science and fetish-sex, and the women in it are not occupying very traditional porn-roles for the most part. Maureen, Iris, Anwei, Nanetta and Moira have all been intelligent, adventurous and confident characters who wind up in crazy, kinky situations which they are largely responsible for choosing to be a part of.

My second thought would be that the contest is more about departing from the "standards" of beauty which have been established in most of our media outlets, as opposed to whether or not the character and their adventures would be accepted by a G - PG panel of producers.

Lastly: would it help if I said she was involved "erotic" adventures instead? I'm kidding.

Thanks for your comment!

Haha, that make sense.
Good luck with the comic.

Well, when you look at the other super-heroines dressed in leotards in bras...I think seeing an earthier heroine in jeans and a t-shirt is refreshing.

Oh, I think shirt and jeans are great. No mistake there. But the rest of the girls are wearing a lot less. (Not that there's anything wrong with that...)

Also, it's specifically stated in the comments that the school is rich in porn. I don't think I'm mistaken on the artist's intentions.

I think you've got the best ensemble diversity in terms of body type and ethnicity. Yay! Maureen looks awesome. And smart!

Thanks very much! I'm still not entirely comfortable with my renderings of folks of different sizes and ethnicities, but I'm getting forced to flex my "observation skills" by my clients. Which is a good thing. That which does not kill me and all that!

I think you're off to a great start. I'd love to see more artists doing diverse ensemble work like this. It would really help the cookiecutter issue.

The cookie-cut character issue, I think, is really more of a question as to why everyone seems to be drawing a super-hero comic. If everyone is drawing a story about a super human who wears tights and a mask to combat crime, it seems like you only need one male body type and one female body type: tall, toned and sexy, with exaggerated proportions in the areas that help define gender. Beyond that, it seems like all the design is in the costume. Most of the folks drawing interesting comics outside of the super hero world seem to do a pretty fair job of drawing a wide spectrum of humanity into their characters. Of course, I don't bother to follow anybody in the "mainstream," so that probably has a lot to do with my perceptions.

You're right, I've seen much greater variety of body type among non-superhero comics.

Love how you have a whole variety of different women here with each body shape celebrated so to speak ... in my humble opinion I think it really captures the spirit of the whole contest ...

Sorry to be so dense about this :( , but .. Maureen is the one in the front with the... I think it's a webcam and mike put together ? In the white jacket right? And the other women are... professors, students, a combination of the two?

Yes, Maureen is the girl in the front wearing the Gnosis College hoodie, and the girls in the back are some of the victims of mad science from the next volume. We're kind of unabashedly about sexy happenings at Gnosis College, and the next volume is largely about the goings on at the State Home for Wayward Girls. The girls in orange are some of the inmates.

I like the "coach" (if that's what she is,though the mic boom doesn't seem like a coach thing, so I'm a lil confused.) and why everyone's dressed in prison colours I don't know, but the most attractive woman I think personally is the coach.

Maureen is the girl in front. She's sporting some "spy" gear that she developed to see what was going on inside a locked church after hours (last volume). The girls in the background are the residents of the the State Home for Wayward Girls. I don't think I need to mention how much potential for porn there is in a jail for women.

When she's in full hero mode and invisible? She's naked. How's that for revealing?

It's funny you should ask that. Would you buy one? If so... what would you be willing to spend?

I'd certainly be interested, 25 to 30$ seems about what a sweat shirt should cost.

Funny, I was at a mall in Madison and they had an official University of Wisconsin store where they had sweat shirts for 30ish. Right across from them was a Steve and barrys selling the same one for 10$. I couldn't figure out why a low rent store like S and B was in such a trendy mall or why the hell was I there.

I've been twiddling my thumbs on this idea for a while. I think I can get costs down under $25 with the guy I do screens for (because he's agreed to charge me practically nothing for the screen materials and process) but there's still shipping. My wife says she'd wear one, and I'd definitely be getting one for Dr. F and myself... but... as with anything where you spend money up front (for shirts, in this case) you wonder about the practicality of it.

The actual screen design look like the graphic on the cheerleader's uniform:

:thumb298346645:

It would be about 15" wide across the front of the hoodie.

would it be a zip up or pull over? i really only wear zip ups.
25 plus shipping would work.
yeah, printing ahead is a crappy shoot, you can get a better deal but have no idea how many you'd sell.

Since they're entirely theoretical at this point, I'll take into consideration your preference for zip-up.

She needs to upgrade her equipment! And we don't mean her body!

Her audio/visual device is pretty primitive. Surely, at a place as eclectic as Gnosis College, there's at least one technical genius who has developed a device that is ten times more sensitive, but also twenty times smaller, small enough to fit on her head or around her neck. Mabuse has created stuff like that for us for years now!

True, but at the time she was using that particular piece of apparatus she was just a fledgling, improvising with whatever stuff came easily to hand.

Her own technical skills would be upgrading considerably in the future...

Oh, we knew that! We were just commenting that she needs better equipment now that she's gonna be a bona fides heroine, and Gnosis college is the best place to get it!
