There's something unholy about the combination of colored pencils and digital painting.

So, her name is Cassini?

It could be.  I typically never name my doodles, though, unless they're from a story, and that kind of drawing starts off more purposefully.

Perhaps she's part of a crack group of off-world explorers that represent the lineage of several different old-school astronomers.  They could be like an educational version of Sailor Moon (and have about the same amount of fetish appeal).

Your mistake is a simple one: there is no HARD science in the Retro Pulp Future. All you need is some kind of skin tight fabric with which to keep the boobs in place and you're good to go!

I often think, "Yes, but what NEW thing can I do with them?" And then I realize no-one including myself cares; they just need to be drawn. :)

No arguements from me about that! LOL! Though it is nice to dream up some different scenarios to put the put things through.

Catch ya later.

Thanks. Actually, I'm doing quite a bit of all-digital work for hired projects lately, so who knows, there might be an all-digital pin-up girl someday.

Thank you!

Really, I think retro is the only way to go. All the progress we're making in technology makes me believe there won't be anything fun about the way the future will look.

I mean, wireless, antennaless, implanted-in-the-ear communications systems and computers that display in your sunglasses? What fun is that? Anyone could just draw a portrait and say she was using future technology!

Yeah, the whole world is too complicated now. I like retro.

And, you're welcome.

Fantastic style. I'm all for the retro look. Bring back the Flash Godon gadgety, art nouveau, kitschy future look is what I say!

I say that too! But it's an awful fine line between loving this style and making fun of it.

Thanks for the new faves, guy!

Well, I don't think unholy is the word, sometimes it can get awkward, but this isnt one of those times!! I love her hair!! She's just great, pose, face, costume!!

I saw a piece that a tagger did with one of my old Forest Nymph pieces, where he ran the whole set of layers through a PaintShop Pro filter called porcelain (or was it china?) and it made the whole things look exactly like the sort of thing you would see painted on a collector's plate. That's the only time I haven't been stricken into a state of numbness by the difference between my pencils and a digital background.

I'm glad you like this piece though. I value your opinion ya know.

That sounds pretty cool!!

And I value that you value my opinion, I consider you someone I should try to learn from, especially in artistic endeavors!

Another space girl! I'm going to buy this one too. I love the Saturn in the background

My worry is that the Saturn looks too much like math.

Because that's what it is.

When you're using the 10-key to input a painting on Photoshop, it has probably stopped being art!

Did you ever see "The Galaxy Patrol" girl over at my REAL web-site? Because you might be interested in her too.

Your Galaxy Patrol girl is the one with the white suit with red boots right? She is nice looking but I promise you I will buy your new Retro Future Girl. Will seven dollars be all right?

The unholy combo works for me. I love this piece in so many ways. The whole dated, space-age esthetic totally works for me. I miss the days of Rocket Robin Hood -- not that I expect anyone else to, mind you.

The future is turning out to be way less cool than we were led to believe it would be.

As an illustrator, I lament all the progress we have made which makes technology so much less fun to draw.

Whatever happened to cranks, dials, and Tesla coils? Damn it, the world should have been FILLED with Tesla coils by now! It's the 21st century, for crying out loud!

If there were a folder to keep favorite comments in, this would be my first one.

When battery technology improves, Bluetooth headsets will be an earring.

And everyone will look schizophrenic.

There's still an indication of a headset, if you care to look for it (and thus spare people the unfair, prejudicial labeling). But soon there won't be!

Thanks so much! If you care to look through the rest of my gallery, there's one more piece like this, which I think you might like as well. It's called, "Intrepid Explorer."
